Back in August last year, many of you might remember that the NLEX Connector project was at 80 percent completion. When completed, the connector road will allow motorists to travel from Caloocan to España much easier. Now, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) are nearly ready to open the road for public use.
After concluding their inspection on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the two agencies have announced that their target date of completion for the 5.15 km stretch of road is on the 27th of March. A few days ahead of the Holy Week in the Philippines.

“This [road] is very important to road users. It will result to [the] easing of traffic and because of that, motorists will have more time to spend with their families.”

This first section of the 8 km expressway is said to aid in decongesting traffic in several areas of the metro, including Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela. In addition to decreasing traffic in these areas, the P23.2 billion expressway project is expected to drastically cut travel time from SLEX Alabang to NLEX Balintawak from two hours to a mere 20 minutes.
