The current generation of the Ford Ranger is the most versatile, capable Ranger ever according to Ford, and now, it can officially add “Best 4×4 and Pick-up” to its title according to the Women’s World Car of the Year judges.
The Women’s World Car of the Year is voted for by a jury composed of 63 women motoring journalist from 45 countries in five continents. These 63 journalists make up the automotive industry’s only all-female jury.
Vehicles across six categories undergo intense scrutiny during the judging process. These vehicles are assessed for safety, driving, comfort, technology, design, efficiency, impact on the environment, and value for money. The jury was sufficiently impressed with the Ranger’s performance and scope of abilities stating: “This is a reliable, stylish, and charismatic pick-up. It moves with ease over any terrain. It’s as efficient as an off roader, but more practical thanks to its cargo box.”

The next-generation of Ford’s Ranger is a complete refresh of their mid-sized pickup truck. Up front, the new Ranger features a bold and confident look courtesy of its new and defined grille, rear box side steps, wider track and wheelbase, embossed tailgate and LED taillamps, and C-clamp LED headlamps which according to Ford adequately conveys the “Built Ford Tough” look.
The new Ford Ranger also gets a major redesign inside, with more comfort, technology, and functionality in mind. Customers can choose an 8” digital instrument cluster, 10” or best-in-class 12” portrait touchscreen, 360-degree camera, and SYNC® 4A with Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability.
Underneath, the Ranger gets an upgraded chassis and suspension, with a 50mm track width increase, ensuring excellent ride and handling characteristics, whether riding with passengers, fully loaded with cargo or towing.
In terms of safety, the next-gen Ranger comes with a suite of advanced driver-assist technologies that include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert & Braking and comes with standard 6 or 7 (for Wildtrak) airbags.
Furthermore, the team working on the Ranger went the extra mile in ensuring that the next-gen Ford Ranger will work in the real world. The next-gen Ranger was designed and engineered off the back of real-world customer feedback. They have conducted more than 5,000 interviews across multiple countries, ensuring that the next Ranger is a hit whereve it was sold.
Lastly, Ford put the Ranger through millions of kilometers of testing across 10 different countries to ensure that it either meets or exceed customer standards when it comes to pickup trucks. This extensive work paid off as the next-gen Ranger is now officially the best ‘4×4 and pickup’ according to the Women’s World Car of the Year.
