The feast of the Immaculate Conception falls on a Thursday this year, December 8, 2022, and as per the MMDA’s standard operating procedure during holidays, there will be no number coding scheme for the day.

Need to do some last-minute shopping for the Christmas season? Want a quick mid-week getaway but your car’s plate number ends in 7 or 8? Don’t fret, there’s no number coding on December 8, 2022.

The Metro Manila Development Authority rolled out an announcement stating that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVVRP), also known as the expanded number coding scheme, has been suspended on Thursday this week for the religious holiday. As such, vehicles that have number plates ending in 7 or 8 will be free to go around Metro Manila without the fear of getting flagged down.

The number coding scheme on a regular non-holiday weekday affects cars between the hours of 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at least for most areas where it is implemented. The City of Makati is the exception as there are no window hours based on the LGU’s implementation of the program.

MMDA Advisory No Number Coding December 8, 2022

On that note, the City of Makati has yet to suspend or yet to announce the number coding scheme’s implementation for Thursday, December 8, 2022. Since Thursday is a special non-working holiday for the whole country, it’s expected that the City of Makati will be suspending the UVVRP.

With the holiday rush in place, it’s important to keep your wits about you when you travel tomorrow to perhaps do some last-minute shopping or go out with either friends or family. Traffic is expected this holiday season and there are a lot of things to worry about, but at least for tomorrow you won’t have to worry about getting flagged down by traffic enforcers for a number coding violation.
