Chevrolet is saying goodbye for now to its Camaro in 2024. The Golden Bowtie has announced that it will end its pony car’s production run in the 2024 model year, with no successor or future Camaro models planned.
In a Chevrolet press release, the brand reported what’ll happen to the Camaro nameplate in the near future. Before the January 2024 deadline, Chevy will launch a Collector’s Edition. The brand didn’t mention a launch date just yet, but the collector’s edition will likely include special badges and will probably be numbered. We can expect the collector’s edition to be available later in 2023, however.
On the Collector’s Edition, you can expect that it will be available in several trim levels like the RS and the SS. There will also be a Collector’s Edition ZL1 that will be on offer, but Chevy didn’t make it clear whether there will be any performance upgrades included in the package. Teaser images are of the ZL1 trim, which Chevy included in its press release.

No future plans for the Camaro have been announced just yet. Chevrolet won’t be announcing a successor right now, but it promised everyone that the Camaro will come back in another generation.
The rumor mill suggests that Chevy could spin off the Camaro name into a Camaro brand, making it somewhat of a Corvette of sorts. As the industry is shifting towards an electrified future, however, we feel that it’s not totally impossible for the Golden Bowtie to pull this move. It’s not impossible for Chevy to pull a Ford and create a Camaro Crossover, while hopefully keeping the two-door pony car that everyone knows and loves.
What will happen to the Camaro? For now, we know that it’s stopping production. While that means we won’t be seeing any new pony car models from the Golden Bowtie in the near future, we certainly hope that it comes back better for the next generation.
