Semana Santa or Holy Week is still a few days away, however, in order to aid passengers in planning their commute around the metro, railway operators are posting advisories early. The LRT-1 (Light Rail Transit – Line 1), LRT-2 (Light Rail Transit – Line 2), and MRT-3 (Metro Rail Transit – Line 3) have announced that railway services will be suspended during the Holy Week holidays to give way to the railway’s annual maintenance.
The railway service providers made the pronouncement on their respective sites and social media pages. Services will be suspended from April 6 Maundy Thursday to April 9, Easter Sunday. During those four days, repairs and preventive maintenance services will be conducted on the trains and tracks to ensure that the railway operates reliably and consistently.

“We normally take advantage of the Holy Week to perform our yearly maintenance activities. With this, we appeal for understanding from the riding public and request that they plan their trip and take alternative transportation during this period.”

Before the suspension takes effect, LRT-1 will have normal operations from April 3 to April 5. On April 5, LRT-1 will have its first train of the day leave at 4:30 AM, at 10:00 PM the last northbound train will leave Baclaran station at 10:00 PM while the last southbound train will depart Roosevelt station at 10:15 PM. LRT-2 will follow the same schedule as LRT-1, but, its last trip will be at 7 PM from both Antipolo and Recto stations.

On the other hand, MRT-3 train schedules will still follow their normal train schedules. The MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 railways will resume normal operations on Monday, April 10. As of writing this article, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) has yet to release its Holy Week schedule.
