Peugeot is going to show its updated 2008 and e-2008 crossovers next week. On May 4, 2023, the French brand will pull the covers off one of its best-selling crossovers in the world, and before the official launch, we were given a teaser photo of the model’s badge, the design of which also looks to be new.
We caught a preview of the e-2008 at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show this year, and that’s not yet the model that will be unveiled and showcased next week. Chances are, Peugeot Philippines under the Astara Group will come through with the new e-2008 instead of the current generation, but that’s not yet confirmed nor denied by the brand at the time of this article’s writing.
While the 2008 already looks modern by today’s standards, Peugeot’s looking to set the bar even higher by unveiling its latest subcompact crossover. The digital launch is set for next week, and it will include the gasoline-only 2008, and also the brand’s all-electric e-2008. Both versions will be largely based on the same platform as before, but we don’t yet have confirmation from Peugeot themselves as to what has changed for the nameplate following the refresh.
We’re speculating that the model will come with a mild-hybrid system, which is comprised of a 1.2-liter PureTech turbocharged three-cylinder. The model features a 48V battery that’s placed under the seats, and it also boasts a pure electric mode that will be able to power the car up to 30 km/h. Specs-wise, the powertrain will be capable of 134 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The electric motor accounts for about six horsepower over the 1.2-liter engine’s power figures. Peugeot also claims that the model will be able to save up to one liter of fuel for every hundred kilometers traveled with the mild-hybrid system.

For the e-2008, expect an electric powertrain that comes with 153 hp and up to 260 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous generation, that’s about a 20-hp increase. Peugeot might also extend the range on the e-2008, bumping the model’s battery pack up to a 48.1 kWh capacity, and claiming about 400 km of range on a single charge.
