It’s finally here. Kia Philippines is done with teasers, introductions, and media conferences. The South Korean brand is ready to unleash its first-ever electric vehicle in the country, the EV6. It took about a year since its unveiling at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), in order for the brand to come out with this model, and the hype is real.

Kia Philippines made a big splash with this model and it marks more than one first for the brand. It’’s the first model in the country to sports Kia’s “Opposites Unite” design language, which is a slight departure from the standard fare that we’ve been seeing from the South Korean brand as of late. There’s still some semblance of the “Tiger Nose” design that Kia’s been known for, but it’s now dubbed the “Digital Tiger Face.”

The overall aesthetic of the EV6 is a mix between a sedan and a crossover. It’s not totally a wagon nor is it a hatchback, nor is it a crossover. The swept-back windshield along with its low-slung look gives it a unique design in the market. Thoroughly modern, it also comes with flush door handles to keep the car aesthetically smooth and aerodynamic. As for the wheels, we’re seeing a large set of 20-inch alloys on this model with a two-tone finish.

As you may expect from being a high-end and top-spec model, the Kia EV6 GT-Line has all LED lighting from front to rear, and a unique presence on the road with its matte paint job.

Kia EV6 Launch Philippines

2023 Kia EV6 Philippines Interior

Inside, the cabin is modern and simple. Modern with two 12.3-inch TFT displays for the gauge cluster and infotainment screens, and simple with regard to the design. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on this model, as it is with most Kia vehicles in the lineup, and Kia also boasts that its interiors are made from sustainable vegan leather and recycled PET for the upholstery and interior panels, respectively. While a majority of the seating material is black, there are some white accents for a little pop of contrast in the cabin, and to add to the ambiance, owners can also customize the interior LED lighting to their preference. Sound is pumped through a 14-speaker surround sound system from Meridian which is one of the best premium audio brands in the business.

For safety, Kia boasts that the EV6 comes with a five-star EURO NCAP crash test rating, and paired with the Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), the EV6 is one of the safest cars out there. With adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree monitor, blind-spot detection, lane-keep and follow assist, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a full suite of 6 airbags, ABS, a tire pressure monitoring system, and more, we’re looking at one of Kia’s best and safest models to date.

Kia will also only field one powertrain option that has 226 hp and 350 Nm of torque from its Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The battery pack in the Long Range model for the EV6 is a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion cell that can grant the user up to 528 km of range.

Furthermore, we get an 800V system that can take a ton of charge, allowing the EV6 to top up from 10 percent to 80 percent battery in as little as 18 minutes. In case of a power outage or in case you need to power other appliances and devices, the Kia EV6 has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function for when power is cut or when you’re out in the wilderness and need to set up camp for example.

As for variants, colors, and pricing, the EV6 will come in five colors, Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue, and Aurora Black Pearl. Only one variant of the EV6 will be available, and that’s in the top-spec GT-Line Long Range trim, and that goes for P3,788,000. On top of every Kia EV6 purchase, customers will get a portable charger, a five-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 km battery system warranty, 5 years of free Preventative Maintenance Service, and five years of free 24/7 roadside assistance.
