Hyundai’s refresh of the Avante was recently unveiled in South Korea this February 27, 2023. Though Hyundai just gave the Elantra a redesigned front bumper in 2021, the Korean brand thought that it was time once again for the model to get a makeover. The Avante is what the Elantra is called in its home country of South Korea, so you can expect this facelift if Hyundai Philippines ever decides to introduce its popular compact sedan in the market.
Though the Elantra is not available in the country, after Hyundai Motor Philippines decided to decrease their focus on sedans since their revamp, we can still get excited about changes in vehicles sold in foreign markets. Ultimately, these changes are important since they will also dictate the direction of vehicles sold here in the Philippines.

As seen in the Avante’s reveal in South Korea, the car is adopting an aggressive and sophisticated look. The front fascia is the most noticeable in the list of updates, the headlights are slim with a trim piece in the middle connecting it at both ends, and the grille is also narrow, with a piece separating the upper part of the bumper from the lower intake. The edges of the bumper are flanked by sporty, faux side-bumper trims.

Looking at it from the side, the Avante retains Hyundai’s signature styling on the door but it comes with a new set of two-tone alloy wheels. The back still features full-width LED taillights, heavily-inclined rear glass, and an angular tailgate. Lower down however is where the changes begin, the rear bumper is redesigned, and it now sports a large black-painted area along with decorative metallic trim surrounding the faux diffuser.
Hyundai has not revealed the technical specifications for the Avante, but, since this is only a facelift and not a brand-new model, the powertrains should remain the same. The looks of the performance-oriented N-variant of the Avante have not been revealed yet, but, it should come in a few months after the standard car.
Here in the Philippines, Hyundai Motor Philippines has not made any statement that would give us the impression that they’re planning on bringing a sedan. The nameplate was the last sedan the brand sold in the Philippines before Hyundai Motor Philippines relaunched early this year. With news coming out that a sixth-generation named the Verna will be coming out in India sometime soon, we’re holding out hope that the next generation of the Accent or Elantra will land in the Philippines again soon.
