When Honda launched the all-new eleventh generation Civic in the Philippines in 2021, customers could choose from three variants, the S, V, and range-topping RS. Although these variants were separated by different price tags, all of them were equipped with Honda SENSING and the same 1.5 liter turbocharged VTEC engine. The only apparent differences between them being in the interior trim, tech equipment, wheels, and paint.
With that lineup, customers didn’t have to shell out a lot of money for the top variant Civic to drive a fun and sporty sedan. Settling for the base model Civic didn’t mean customers get less of a car, it only meant not having all the additional bells and whistles the top variant came with. When the eleventh generation Civic launched in 2021, the base variant S had a price tag of P1.290 million, followed by the V and RS variants which used to sell for P1.498 million and P1.690 million, respectively.

Before Honda Philippines quietly consigned the Civic S to the storage room of discontinued models, it used to retail for P1.368 million, a price jump of P78,000 from when it was first released. Despite Honda’s SENSING technology being equipped as standard, the increase in price could still have negatively affected its appeal in the market. Meanwhile, the two remaining variants, the Civic V and Civic RS currently sell for P1.583 million and P1.775 million, respectively.

Honda Cars Philippines have not publicly discussed the exact reason why they are dropping the Civic S from their lineup. As of writing this article, Honda Philippines has scrubbed the Civic S off their website. If you were eyeing to get your hands on a Honda Civic S, it’s best to call the nearest Honda dealership and ask.
