The Land Transportation Office (LTO) of the Philippines will be providing free theoretical driving courses for student drivers at its Driver’s Education Center (DEC) located at LTO National Capital Region West. (LTO-NCR West). 

Currently, the LTO requires that driver’s license applicants undergo driver education before being granted the privilege of a license. Enrolling in a driving school is a part of the license-acquiring experience, and tests will be waiting for applicants in order to determine whether they can be allowed to drive on public roads.

Driving schools already have these services available, however, fees may keep applicants from taking the courses. According to our source, Auto Industriya, driving schools charge P2,300 for the educational course. As such, the LTO’s offering of a free theoretical driving course could help improve driver education for a large number of motorists absolutely free. Attendees can expect the free course to tackle things like basic road signs, rules, markings, maneuvers, courtesy, right of way, and other important driving practices and knowledge. 

With regard to scheduling, students will have to block off two days with the LTO-NCR West branch. For the month of January, the course will be offered on specific dates, and they are as follows:

However, and also according to our source, the LTO has no more slots to give for the month of January. There will be another set of classes scheduled for February, however, the LTO has yet to announce the dates at the time of this article’s writing.
