OMODA made its presence known earlier this year and even sent us to China to see its operations and its future models. The Philippines will receive the OMODA 5 and its EV counterpart, plus the JAECOO 7 under the same roof.

Both brands will come together, but it’s OMODA that is looking to make a splash with its OMODA 5 platform, especially with the EVs. As one of the heralds for the new brand in the country, the ‘5’ will be priced competitively with its gasoline-only variant, and its electric-only counterpart has a few tricks up its sleeve in terms of specs and OMODA’s fantastic proposition which includes an eight-year warranty or 200,000 kilometers whichever comes first.

The OMODA 5 EV will largely take from the feature set of the standard OMODA 5. We expect top-spec safety and convenience features to go with these models, and we expect similar styling to the standard gas-only model, albeit with a sleeker front in comparison and perhaps a few notable colors.

2024 OMODA 5 EV

OMODA will launch the OMODA 5 EV in the fourth quarter of this year, supposedly. The EV will be launched officially with four major selling points: a crossover design, intelligent technology, EIC (motor, battery, and electric control), technology, and worry-free safety. OMODA promises a smooth delivery of power, safety system engagement, and as well as a smooth ownership experience.

As for the eight-year, 200,000 km warranty, OMODA will also include the battery as a part of the package. Normally a wear-and-tear item is meant for replacement after a good amount of distance and years have passed, but the brand is going for eight years bumper-to-bumper, marking it as one of the potentially best and longest warranties for an electric car in the Philippines.

This is all on top of the fast charging (up to 80 percent charge in 35 minutes), the vehicle-to-load feature, and the estimated range of 450 km on a single charge.

It’s interesting to see what OMODA has in store for the Philippines, and it’s also going to be interesting to see how JAECOO performs and what the brand has to offer in the country in the way of crossovers.
